CAMERA CLUB CAMBRIDGE - WHAT SHOTS!

The Art of Photography has flourished since the days of the daguerreotype It illuminated the late Victorian age with such brilliant practitioners as Julia Margaret Cameron with her studies of human portraiture and into the twentieth century Art scene with Cartier- Bresson and his much admired and imitated school of black and white prints. .Photography followed film into the full glare of public gaze when the great snappers of modern times rendered the reality of war, Don McCullen and his ilk, in unrelenting black and white print but it remains stubbornly an art form.

Since the arrival of the iPhone with all the delights of digital detail, it has been under pressure.

“ We are willing to embrace new techniques’ explains Michael Harris, from the Cambridge Camera Club committee ‘ But we value the quality and yes, art of traditional photography “ He is open to new ideas and to new members . “The Club is large and can attract some big-hitters in the world of photograph as speakers. Only recently we had the Sports photographer from The Times .”
